![]() Instead you have to play on the public servers that recycle the same few maps over and over again. Deal with it.Īnother reason I haven't played much is that it is really hard to find crew online to play custom maps. If you were going to add anything to the class system, maybe a doctor? Anyway, I prefer AoS class sysetm to Original. Any new iteration of AoS is going to have to fix this. So one of the biggest issues for me, and one of the key issues as to why I haven't played so much recently, is the lag. (After playing laggy snipes, I find when on a low ping game I over compensate for the lag that is no longer there!) Being in Australia, we have very, very lag.Īs an engineer, making a fort, time and time a gain I try and place one girder, nothing happens, so I girder again and suddenly I have built 5 girders and fallen down the whole I was trying bridge. This is because I find Sniper the easiest to deal with on laggy servers. Having said that, I STILL opt for sniper 9/10 times, and yes I have often played many Sniper-fest games. Playing in a good team of people who get their class rocks. Once you understand the different strategy of AoS over Original et al, it does work. But I just don' have thet time needed to commit to that sort of play.Ī lot of people whine and ♥♥♥♥♥ about the class system. I love the hour long sessions making secret tunnels. Original AoS does have a destructible environment, of course. I love this, and it's why i usually go for AoS over open or any other form. The battlefield evolves quickly and on a large scale. There are things AoS give me that others do not. So with that said, my cards on the table, ♥♥♥♥ you haters. I don't care what ANYONE says, it is a great game, and I love it, in my top 5 all time games. I am looking forward to where this project will go, and even more towards the support that this community will offer.ĪoS and Open spades - NOT the same thing. Note: maps are currently 256x256x256 blocks in size, which will increase over time depending on user preference and performance. For all the Windows users out there with an aptitude for map making, you can help out right now! Do not expect much progress on this project over the next month, however feel free to discuss amongst yourselves ideas and suggestions. If you wish to contribute to this project, please contact me at impact, or Sundar via Steam. ![]() ![]() Development of this project will resume in a month, and will finish based on the quality and quantity of the resources provided by the community. This post is a heads-up, a ‘trailer’ of sorts. This project is a lot of work for one person, and the areas that I require assistance are: It’s in its very early stages there is a lot of fine tuning, balancing, performance enhancements and graphic improvements to do, however with the help of the community I see every reason why this is possible.įor this game to work, I do need help from the community. 3D maps are rendered, players can connect to a server, shoot each other, blow up some blocks and play a match. All of this information will be collected and analysed and the result will be a game that actually works.Īt the moment, the game works. My goal is to utilise all of the ideas, suggestions and discussions posted here and on the Ace of Spades forums to determine what makes a good game. The problem with Ace of Spades was the lack of support from its developers, and a subsequent loss of players over time. Over the time that I’ve been away I’ve been experimenting with 3D graphics, networking and graphic design, for the purpose of creating a game. I’ve heard a few have moved on to other games such as Block ‘n’ Load or Counter Strike, however I would like to present a new alternative. I have to admit, I’m a bit sad to see what has happened to this community. Over the past few weeks I’ve had a look around, had an incognito game or two and talked to a few people. OverviewIt’s been nearly a year since I left the Ace of Spades community.
